Radio Rubber Room- Femme Fatale

March 08, 2014  •  2 Comments

What a fantastic event!  Chanelle Vigue put together an awesome collection of female led acts for Radio Rubber Room's Femme Fatale show at The Camel.  There was a little bit of everything there and a lot a bit of awesome.  Even the boys wanted to be women that night:)

I showed up early to make sure to witness the transformation of Chelsea Temple's guitarist and bassist from Russell Lacy and Gabe Santamaria to Rusty Springfield and Gabriela Santamaria.  I could not get enough of watching Russell get made up and adapting to his night as a woman.

A bit of fun during soundcheck....

A real woman carries her own equipment...

and then hits on the sound guy....

sooooo sooooo pretty!

First up.... Chelsea Temple!!!

Next up was Cardinal Compass....I could not get enough of this lady's voice and her badass Beatles cover.

Third on the bill was Phoebe Novak who came down from Brooklyn for the event.  I love her about me on her FB page...

"Phoebe Novak tickles heart strings and stabs kidneys with her melodies while leaving lipstick on the microphone."

Starlet Knight....I was not expecting this.  She had everyone in the room paying attention and laughing with her musical stories.

Here comes The Queens of Noise.. It takes some super rockin' chicks to play in a Runaways cover band and they sure filled the shoes.  I was standing next to a friend, who is a complete badass guitar player (even in a dress:) ), and we just kept being impressed with this bands guitarist tearing it up on stage.

Showing off the Loco Pickles Production magic....

The last band of the night was Toxic Moxie.  I only got to stick around for the first 2 tunes as I was heading down to catch my boys in DJ Williams Projekt at Emilio's but I loved what I heard.  I had put the camera away before their singer came out and blew me away with a voice that reminded me of Florence. Definitely gonna try and catch them again around town.

So yeah! What a Sunday Funday at The Camel.  Super thanks to Chanelle for putting this together and to Loco Pickles Productions who volunteered their time to make the stage extra magical that night.
