One thing that I have been very fortunate to do with my photography is donate my time and energy to some amazing organizations that do an awesome job of changing, improving and saving lives.  This time around I got to work with Be The Match.  Be The Match is the National Marrow Donor Program that has a registry to sign up Bone Marrow donors to agree to give transplants to save the lives of strangers with Blood Cancers.  I was asked to photograph their run here in Richmond last month.  Whew, talk about shedding tears first thing in the morning.  SO many powerful stories, those spoken and just seen.  At the end of the race they even introduced a man who is alive today because of a transplant with the young woman who made the sacrifice that saved his life.....a complete stranger from Michigan. It was a powerful and beautiful moment and certainly had me incredibly moved.  

When asked about the experience, the woman was moved to tears.  She said when she got the call there was no question that she was going to go through with it.  

"I got to save a life."  

"I would do it again."

How many of us can say that??
