I headed out on Fat Tuesday for a night of snow filled RVA music awesomeness and decided to take the camera out with me.  The night began at the Fat Tuesday black party at Lady Nawlins with Kung Pao Quartet and The Trongone Band.  Unfortunately it was way too cold outside for me to be taking pictures and not dancing my little booty off.  

But the night took me over to the Broadberry to see Sleepwalkers and The Big Payback.  I didn't get photos of Sleepwalkers but I can tell you that their cd is on heavy rotation in my car.  I can't get enough of it.  You should definitely check them out.

I actually didn't even pull my camera out until the very end of the night.  I was talking to my friend, Kai while he was shooting and the urge overwhelmed me.  So, I managed to retrieve my bag from behind the bar in enough time to shoot some shots during the last song.  I know I saw this all the time....but The Big Payback is the real deal.  It is impossible not to dance during their performances.  I have been watching this band since their very first show and have been telling people for a few years now that I can't even hear James Brown anymore without thinking about Kelli Strawbridge and the gang.  

Speaking of Kelli, his new album dropped today and although I haven't gotten my copy yet (soon though!), I did watch the premier of his new video last night and it is super dope.  Porter Street Pictures continues to rock my world and killed it on the video.
